Hi, my name is Lance Testa and I am with Quality Hardwood Flooring of Rochester, NY.
Today we are going to address the question that I am asked probably the most and that is
the difference between Buffing and Re-coating vs. Sanding and Refinishing of your
hardwood floors in Rochester.
Sometimes buffing and recoating hardwood floors is all that is needed. It works great for
minor scratches of the surface, oil from feet and generally minor wear.
But basic buffing and recoating might not do the job when you've got wear spots through
the existing finish and they look darker, buffing and re-coating would make it worse and
turn the dark spots darker.
Sanding and refinishing is called for when you've got a lot of water stains, not always,
but most of the time.
Refinishing hardwood floors likely won't help you get rid of cats' urine damage in which
case they might have to be replaced.
Thanks a lot for watching and if you need help with your hardwood floors, please contact
our company in Rochester, NY - Quality Hardwood Flooring and we will be happy to help you
with your hardwood flooring needs - be it buffing and coating or sanding and refinishing.
